Bought this for my 11 year old son and he loves it! Took about 2 afterschool sessions to build it.
Best bit "the escape pod because no other kits have one"
Least best bit "not enough characters"
He has had lots of kits over the years and he has never played with one as much after building it = RESULT !!

This took my 14 year old son just a few hours to build for his younger sibling. Quite impressive overall. A good size and more importantly, fairly sturdy unlike some Lego models which can't be played with as bits drop off! Various opening parts to see the inside of the ship. A bargain price from Amazon too compared to else where, saving over £20.

This was my son's first car and it was a huge hit. For 18months he rode to crèche in it, did the shopping, went to the zoo etc. He outgrew it at 2.5 years old, but I bet when we get it down from the attic in a few months for his little brother he'll be climbing into it again! We got stopped many times to be asked where we got it. It has a small bonnet in which to carry a few bits n'pieces and a drinks holder for a juice cup. It's very easy to steer, wheels aren't too noisy, looks cool, greatly admired by kids & adults alike, one of our best buys!

got this for my niece and nephew. bit of work putting it together but nothing to difficult. the kids love it. it's plenty strong enough and not high enough for them to get hurt falling off. light enough for them to move about the garden on their own. Would recommend it for homes with small gardens.

as a bit of an additional thought, the kids tried covering it with a sheet when it started to snow to see if they could turn it into an igloo. would work great but just not enough snow.

I bought this for my 2 1/2yr old son who is a dedicated climber and he took to it in seconds. He was thrilled when he got to the top. It's already bought hours of fun, and makes a great den when covered with blankets too. It's easy to assemble and light enough to move about the garden. A great buy.

This climbing frame simply clicks together, it's pretty much all plastic but it is very sturdy and I have had one in the back garden for a few years now and it's still standing. The bright green plastic tubes are hollow and flex slightly if they are under pressure (when older children are climbing on it) but I've never had any concerns over the strength of it, and it often has a few children on at once. The colour has faded only very slightly over the last three years which is very impressive when compared to other garden toys which have been seriously sun bleached.

The dismantle tool is basically used to depress the metal pegs which protrude in order to secure the tubes together, dismantling is no easy task however and so I wouldn't recommend it unless you really had to. The climbing frame is surprisingly light and can easily be dragged across the garden (when mowing the grass for example!).

My kids have had nearly 4 years out of this, at first they could just about climb a couple of rungs up and then cried for me to lift them down. They don't need daddy now though and they are hanging up-side-down from the top of it within seconds. This isn't just a climbing frame, they spend just as much time underneath it and it becomes a house, a school, or a castle to them.

In a nutshell: This isn't massive and so doesn't take up too much room in the garden. My eldest was 2 when I bought this, she's 6 now and still loves it - my little boy isn't even a year old yet but I know that he'll enjoy it when he's old enough and will get many years out of it. This is one of the best garden toys we've ever had, it's brought a lot of enjoyment!

You do need some floor space for this as it's approximately 1.1m x 0.8m (rough guess) but what a toy! The train moves round the track at either high or low speed. There are points to fiddle with and buttons to push which stop the train at the station and lets cars go across. A motorised unit moves the cars along and they also stop to let the train through. There's a small shop, which if you push a button, the doors open, car parking spaces where if you press a button, the cars are pushed off. A small road runs around the shop. My son also has the Tomica Hypercity Rescue and has asked for more in the range for his birthday. I will need a bigger house at this rate but it's great to see my son sit down and play and get something out of it. Well worth the buy and I think good value at today's prices!Tomy Tomica 85401 Mega Station Set

My five year old son, who happens to be autistic, has long since grown out of wooden train sets. But 'proper' train sets are still too delicate and fiddly. Tomy have come up with the perfect stage in between - and that would be true for any child, as his younger non-autistic sister and older cousins would testify.

The train is powered by a single size C battery. It doesn't require a screwdriver to insert it. It has two speeds, and a very simple on/off/speed switch. The track is easy to put together, durable, and tolerant: the train will stay on the rails even if they are not perfectly aligned.

But the fun is in the station. I wasn't sure about this at first. It looked too fussy. But in fact it is a work of genius. It is powered by 3 type C batteries (small screwdriver required), and when switched on becomes like a beautiful Victorian toy. The train is halted at the station as it comes around the track. The barrier lifts to allow the first car to cross the track; once across, the train is then allowed through. Then a series of paddles lift the car up a ramp, until it gets to the top, and races back down to the level crossing again - or joins a queue, since up to five cars can be used (it comes with two). All the while the crossing clangs its warning, and things whir and click. My son finds it utterly entrancing - and seeks out the numerous angles from which to watch this poetry in motion.

And furthermore the train can also be made to halt or go at points around the track by pulling a little lever. It comes with a good amount of track, but if you buy some extension track too, you end up with a really big trainset, with lots of possibilities, and plenty of scope for interaction. For the autistic child there is huge potential to extend play, and to get involved in his or her world. And if they do throw pieces about, they are tough enough to take it.

When we first had it I rushed out to buy some rechargeable batteries, assuming this much activity would drain the batteries within a day or two. But incredibly the first set of batteries lasted two months, despite being played with every day.

There's plenty else to buy to develop the set and keep it interesting. Full marks to Tomy - they really have come up with a beautiful toy.

My nearly 4 year old son has had this for Christmas and it is a massive hit. It's very interactive with lots of stuff happening which they can set to go automatically or work manually. The train goes at two speeds - the fastest of which is very quick and it looks good. There is enough track for a good sized layout on the floor. My son thinks its brilliant and has been playing with it non-stop since he had it. He is having to use planning skills and think quickly to get his trains to run right, without causing crashes and is also keen to get other people involved in the play.
It's worth noting that it will take 20-30 minutes to unpack, install batteries and stick all the extra stickers on so worth preparing ahead if you can.
An excellent set, very expandable and lots of fun to play with. Thomas trackmaster trains also run on this track and most trackmaster sets seem to come with connectors to connect trackmaster track to Tomy track.
